Erythronium americanum
One of the most common spring wildflowers, the Trout Lily bears a nodding yellow single flower on a stalk surrounded by brownish green molted leaves that are said to resemble a brown trout. Petals and sepals bend backward to reveal brown stamen. When left alone, these plants will develop clusters or long-lasting colonies.
