Please read the following Terms and Conditions of use carefully. We believe in keeping it simple!

How Things Work

Once you have submitted your order and checkout, your credit card will be charged immediately. The plants will be pulled from our inventory, treated with hydrogel to keep them moist, carefully packed in sphagnum moss within an appropriately sized shipping container, and shipped to you by one of our preferred carriers.

Cancel that Order

We realize that sometimes customers change their minds. We do too! Any changes or cancellations must be made within 8 hours of placing your order. Cancellation of your order before we ship it will result in a 25% of your order re-stocking fee. After your order has been packed and shipped, it cannot be changed or canceled.

When your order leaves our loading dock, it’s on the road with the carrier! We appreciate your understanding.

Speaking of Shipping

Although we strive to be as accurate with shipping as possible, sometimes things happen. Here are a few challenges that probably won’t happen but could happen.

Wrong or Missing Item

Plants are carefully labeled to ensure they are true to their variety. In case you do receive the wrong plant, we will gladly replace it, but we do not refund the purchase price. The customer recognizes they understand the plant type they are purchasing from the product page at our website. Home Gardener’s Choice does not replace or refund due to the customer purchase of an incorrect plant. If an item is missing from your order, please contact customer service immediately. We ask that you send a picture of the plants you received along with the packing slip. A replacement plant will be shipped out to you. If on the off chance that we are sold out of the item, we will substitute a similar plant at a comparable price.

Mother Nature

While we may know when a plant needs to be shipped, Mother Nature doesn’t always cooperate. She has a mind of her own! If weather conditions in our area or your area are not optimal for shipping, we won’t risk sending them out. If your shipment is going to be delayed due to the weather, we will let you know.

While we are discussing Mother Nature, please remember that plants are subject to her whim! We do everything we can to ensure that your plants arrive ready to thrive. Conditions such as drought, extreme heat, severe weather, disease, poor soil, and even animals, large and small, can affect the health of your plants. Be prepared to help your plants be all they can be by giving them the attention they deserve.

Package Damage

If you receive a package that has been damaged during transportation, please refuse the shipment. The package will be returned to us by the carrier, a claim will be initiated with the carrier, and after approval of the damage claim by the carrier, the package will be reshipped to you. Claims for plants that have been damaged during shipment must be made immediately upon discovery of damage or within 24 hours of receipt of the package. We are not responsible for shipping delays or for damage during shipment.

Returns

Plants are perishable items and cannot be returned without prior approval. Once a plant is unboxed from its container, or planted, the plant cannot be returned. However, if approval is given for a return, a 25% restocking fee is charged. Liability by us will not be more than the cost paid by the customer. As the customer, once you have placed an order, you have accepted The Home Gardeners Choice’s terms and conditions.

Bare Root and Dormant

Your plants will be shipped bare root without soil when they are dormant, which means they are temporarily inactive. Dormancy happens during late fall, winter, and early spring. To check to see if your plants are dormant versus dead, you can do the scratch test. Using your fingernail, scratch a small area of bark from the trunk of the plants. Green means you are good to go! Brown or black underneath is a sign that the plants are most likely dead.

Sometimes shipping and transplanting will cause the plants to drop their leaves. They will get them back as soon as they become acclimated to their new home. Dormancy is completely normal and vital for your plant’s health. Like a good nap refreshes you, dormancy helps the root system of plants. Keep in mind that our plants are deliberately kept dormant in the spring for shipping. Leafing out on your new plants may occur after other, more mature plants have gained their leaves.
