Amelanchier canadensis
The serviceberry can be pruned as a single or multi-stem tree or left as a shrub. The silvery-striped bark is a bonus feature when the serviceberry is pruned. Clusters of 5-petaled flowers appear followed by small green berries that turn red and then purple. These beautiful blueberry-like berries are great for making pies and jam. Dark glossy green leaves in summer turn a captivating gold in fall.
